D35s: Second Stage of Challenge Julius Baer in Gland

The D35 Banque Populaire will be competing at the Realstone Cup at Gland on Lake Geneva this weekend, despite the fact that Pascal Bidégorry and some of the crew have only just returned from their record crossing of the Mediterranean, last weekend. Image copyright B. Stichelbaut/BPCE.

The second stage of the Challenge Julius Baer will take place at the Golf Club of the Imperial Domain of Gland. This new development will permit the joining of two prestigous sports, sailing and golf. After a weekend without wind, the competition will be renewed amongst the beauties of an exceptional place

by Aurélie Fontanellaz (in translation)

On Friday the place of honour will go to the golf tournament, with races taking place on the Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, from 1100, the greens will be displaced for the waters of the Bay of Nyon, on which 12 Décisions 35 will compete. The D35s have missed competition since the Grand Prix Bean-Rivage Palace (which was not valid).

On the occasion of the second regatta of the Challenge Julius Baer, the teams will again compete, either to confirm their results or, on the contrary, to find their place on the podium. The races for the Realstone Cup will be decisive for truly launching the season!

The presence of French sailors, as well as new teams on the circuit, reconfirms the international status of the Challenge Julius Baer. We will expect good competition between the teams from Lake Geneva, who are more at home on this difficult stretch of water.

There will be a maximum of 4 races/day, commencing at 1100 on Saturday and 1030 on Sunday.

Note from Voile Banque Populaire:

Despite the fact that they have only just completed (last weekend) their record crossing of the Mediterranean, Pascal Bidégorry and his team are heading for Lake Geneva to compete in their D35 for the Realstone Cup this weekend. Their team will be: Pascal Bidégorry, Yvan Ravussin, Nicolas Charbonnier, Arnaud Jarlégan, Christophe Espagnon and Xavier Revil.
